MIS Migration Study Day 2026: A Day of Discussions, Research and Discovery
May 6th, 2026
Centre de Documentation sur les Migrations Humaines (CDMH), in Dudelange.
SUMMARY EVENT
The event brought together researchers, staff and students from of the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE), Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH), and Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER).
The day started with welcoming remarks from Mr Dan Biancalana, Mayor of Dudelange, followed by a conference about migration archives in the city and the importance of preserving these histories and memories.
In the afternoon, participants met at the CDMH for discussions around migration research and documentation. They also joined a guided visit of the Quartier “Italie”, a neighbourhood strongly linked to Luxembourg’s migration history.
The programme ended with the exhibition “OST. The Vanished Traces of the Forced Labourers from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus in Luxembourg (1942–1944)”, presented by its author Dr Joëlla van Donkersgoed.
The study day was a good opportunity to encourage exchanges between different disciplines and institutions, while also involving students in discussions around migration and inclusive societies.
