New publication – Das Paradigma der Interkulturalität

This recently published anthology was edited by members of the Key Area MIS and responds to the growing importance of interculturality in research and teaching. Its articles scrutinise closed cultural concepts which fail to take differences into account, and develop interculturality as an open conceptual framework. In doing so, the literary and cultural scholars who have contributed to this volume examine selected examples from German, Luxembourgish, French and English literature.

The aim of this recently published anthology is to demonstrate the status of interculturality as an interdisciplinary problem concept (paradigm) which can be shown to be equally relevant for research and teaching. Interculturality is viewed here fundamentally as an open conceptual framework that includes the apparent antonym of transculturality: in other words, the point of departure for the book’s ten articles is not a cultural concept which is intended to be self-contained, meaning that cultural differences are also not in principle overlooked. Instead, it investigates the concurrence of different cultures and cultural characteristics using selected examples from German, Luxembourgish, French and English literature. The volume is aimed at anyone interested in literature or culture, and is also of interest to other disciplines thanks to its interdisciplinary perspective on multilingualism, innovation research and medieval studies.
