In the summer semester of 2017, Sonja Kmec and Oliver Kohns are organising the multilingual masterclass ‘Cultural Heritage and Politics of Memory: Theoretical Concepts and the Case of Portugal’ in conjunction with Prof. Elsa Peralta. The overall objective of this one-week course is to work with students to develop critical thinking with regard to the politics of memory and to compare cultures of remembrance. In addition, various local representations of the past in museums and memorials will be examined and critically reflected upon.
This one-week masterclass will take place in May 2017 in Portugal, and will allow students at the University of Luxembourg to enjoy extensive exchanges with doctoral candidates from the University of Lisbon.
The masterclass is co-funded by the ‘Master in Learning and Communication in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts’ and the Key Area MIS – Migration and Intercultural Studies.
